Meta Quest 2 And Pro Models Get Big Price Cuts
Looking to pick up a Meta headset now that prices have dropped? Check out these retailers.
Meta has slashed the prices for two of its VR headsets. As of today, you can find the Meta Quest 2 (256GB) available for just $430, down from $500, and the Meta Quest Pro for $1,000, down from $1,500. The standard 128GB model of the Quest 2, meanwhile, will remain $400.
The price cuts come not long after price hikes on the Meta Quest 2 went into effect last summer. At that time, Meta raised the price of both models of the Quest 2 by $100, so the price drop brings the 256GB model pretty close to the price it was before the increase. Now that we've got that out of the way, here's where you can buy the Quest 2 and Quest Pro at their new prices.
Meta Quest 2 (256GB)
$430 (was $500)
The Meta Quest 2 (256GB) is less than half the price of the Meta Quest Pro, making it an ideal headset for newcomers to the world of VR. Its 256GB drive should give you plenty of space to hold all your VR games, and its wire-free operation means you won’t need to mess with a lengthy setup process. Simply clear some space in your room, strap on the headset, and you’re ready to start playing. Two games are also included with your purchase--Golf+ and Space Pirate Trainer DX.
Now that it only costs $30 more to double your storage, the 256GB model figures to be more popular, so it could be harder to find than its 128GB sibling.
Meta Quest Pro
$1000 (was $1500)
If you’re looking for something a bit more robust, consider stepping up to the Meta Quest Pro. It’s a much more enticing product now that its price has been slashed by $500, featuring an ultra-comfortable design, charging dock, and a radically improved display. And just like the Meta Quest 2, it works without wires and is a standalone product--so you won’t need a powerful computer or gaming console to run it.
The Meta Quest 2 continues to offer the best combination of performance and price, even with the recent release of the PSVR 2. Considering that the PSVR 2 requires a PS5 (and is wired), the Meta Quest 2 is the way to go for VR newcomers. Meanwhile, the Meta Quest Pro, while expensive, is less than the price of the PS5 and PSVR 2 combined.
