Every Original Movie Coming To Netflix In 2023

Netflix has unveiled its 2023 movie slate, and the streaming platform has a lot of new films coming out this year. These will include sequels like Extraction 2 and Murder Mystery 2, as well as the next movie from Oscar-winner David Fincher, The Killer. Subscribers can also look forward to Wes Anderson's new Roald Dahl movie, the long-awaited Chicken Run sequel, and animated films like Leo (featuring the voice of Adam Sandler) and Nimona, which features the voice of Chloe Grace Moretz as a shape-shifting teenager.

In total, Netflix has more than 35 original movies coming to the service in 2023, including action movies, rom-coms, comedies, and thrillers. We're rounding up everything for you in one place in this gallery. Note that it's up to date as of January 27, so we'll update this gallery as titles are added or potentially delayed. Also remember that this gallery covers only original movies. Netflix has plenty more licensed films coming in 2023, including Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy, which returns to the Netflix library on February 1.

A family drama based on real events, Dog Gone follows the story of a young man hiking the Appalachian Trail who loses his dog and embarks on a journey to find him.

A comedy, You People stars Jonah Hill and Lauren London as a young couple, Ezra and Amira, who fall in love. But their fairytale romance is upended by their parents, who have their own issues. Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny play Ezra's ostensibly woke parents and Amira's "unyielding yet concerned" parents are played by Eddie Murphy and Nia Long.

This adventure movie from director Sarah Spillane tells the story of a young sailor, played by Teagan Croft, who is trying to become the youngest person to sail around the world alone, without help. This movie adapts the true story of Jessica's 210-day journey (spoiler, she made it), and it aims to be an uplifting story of human perseverance.

This documentary from director Sam Pollard bills itself as the "definitive" documentary about the NBA legend Bill Russell, who passed away in July 2022. The film features interviews with NBA legends like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, as well as more modern NBA stars like Steph Curry and Chris Paul.

A rom-com from director Aline Brosh McKenna, Your Place or Mine stars Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher as "best friends and total opposites," who, you guessed it, fall in love. "When they swap houses and lives for a week, they discover what they think they want might not be what they really need," reads a line from the movie's description.

Netflix's first big animated release of 2023 is The Magician's Elephant, which tells the story of Peter (voiced by Noah Jupe) who is searching to find his lost sister Adele (Pixie Davies). To do so, Peter must find an elephant and a magician (Benedict Wong) as part of what Netflix calls an "adventure of a lifetime." The movie is based on the 2009 novel by Kate DiCamillo.

Everyone thought Chris Hemsworth's Tyler Rake died at the end of 2020's Extraction, but he did not. Hemsworth returns to play Rake once again in Extraction 2, and he's setting off on another dangerous journey, this time in Georgia, to rescue a family from a prison. Director Sam Hargrave returns as well, along with producers Joe and Anthony Russo from AGBO.

The long-awaited sequel to 2000's Chicken Run, Dawn of the Nugget picks up the story after the chickens escape Tweedy's farm.
